Dun Dun da da

This past weekend I finally got a few things accomplished, had a minor set back and revelation.

Things accomplished:

The tubs of winter clothes that I brought up from the basement 8 weeks ago have finally been taken back down stairs. Which means that I have successfully switched out my clothes before the season's end. Score for me!! Although I was getting tired of Eric crabbing about my man-made maze throughout the house, we were more worried when the kids started climbing up the totes and jumping onto the couch. Flashes of going to the ER were enough for us.

I did manage to bring up my "Fall/Halloween Decor" which consists of a bunch crafty pumpkins that light up and a few candy bowls. Unfortunately, Halloween is less than a week away and I still have not put them up I think I may just take them back down stairs tonight. At the rate I'm going, I should just bring up the Christmas Tree and decorations. If I start now, maybe I'll have them up by Christmas Eve.

My Minor setback:

I awoke Friday morning and was getting ready for work. Patrick's bedroom is right outside the bathroom, so as I do my hair and makeup I usually pop into his room and wake him up. When he sat up Friday morning he started screaming at me:

"Mom!!! Mom!!! A rat!! A RAT!! AUGHH!!! It just ran into your room and went under your bed, I'm not lying! I can see its eyes and its LONG pink tail..." My reaction is of course, "Whatever Patrick, get up! We have to get going! I can't be late AGAIN!!" I honestly didn't believe him because there is NO Way a rat would be in MY house..I clean constantly?! Well, Patrick's refusal to get out of his bed made me have to go investigate. I turned on the light in my bedroom which only resulted in me making Sleeping Beauty angry. You would think that I was dealing with a 4 foot rat. Just as I walked in to the bathroom to continue getting ready it ran right behind me. Of course I didn't see it, Patrick did. He screamed again "The RAT, THE RAT!! It's going into the kitchen!!" Classic, just as I turned around the "rat" turned the corner. At this point I'm wondering if Patrick is really awake. Just to show him that there was NO rat, I walked in to the Kitchen to investigate, again. Two seconds later, I'm screaming "A MOUSE, A MOUSE!!!!" and I was on top of the toilet. I'm not much of a role model...I did try to get our ferocious dog to go get the mouse..he brings me "presents" all the time: frogs, snakes, turtles, squirrel....why not a mouse? I kid you not he was under the covers with Patrick literally shaking. Nice Tank....

We did manage to make our way to the van only to find that Wyatt wasn't in the van. He was inside the house looking for the mouse.

The Revelation:

Eric & I went to his cousins wedding on Friday. To start out, Thursday evening Eric & I coordinated where we were going to meet. This was our first Friday wedding and it was at 6pm so we couldn't be late. (Just one of many pet peeves of mine and on top of my "Have to be Readiness") Thursday evening I pulled out the dress I was going to wear. I showed it to Eric and told him to match accordingly. Well as you read above my Friday morning didn't go as planned. I decided to have a wardrobe change. Running from mice in heels and a dress didn't work so well for me. Black slacks and fancy black sweater seemed like a much better choice. Plus I wasn't sure if I could manage being a lady ALL DAY throughout work and then at a wedding? I can only do so much people....sorry.

Minor set back:

I called Eric to make sure he remembered to bring his change of clothes for the wedding. His response, "No". "Umm...what do you mean No...this was all planned out, was it not?" He tells me "Well, you left your dress at home. I assumed that meant that we weren't going." Oh tist, tist, tist..."No honey, you have to understand, I'm a woman and sometimes I change my mind, which is what happened this morning. I'm sorry I guess I should have probably put the dress away so there wasn't any confusion." I can't believe he actually thought that...men!? I can just picture him getting up in the morning and seeing my dress hanging there and then making a fist and pulling it into himself saying YES!!

Eric ended up driving all the way home to shower and get ready. He made it just in time for the reception...Idiot...

I must say, that was an awesome wedding and reception! It has to be in my top ten. The wedding was gorgeous although fairly quick. I ended up going to the wedding by myself, nothing like getting weeping and teary eyed during the vows and the Irish Blessing. This is usually the time where Eric and I would hold each others hand a little tighter, sit a little closer, only to reminisce that it was us up there oh so long ago....

I'll have to post the "REVELATION" separately...this is getting too long...
