This was a "No Kids" wedding which some people would get offended by. I can't believe Sara and Andy didn't want my 3 Ring Circus running around everywhere! I'm so hurt...NOT! Eric & I may have felt this way two kids ago, but now....YAY!! A Date!! Man, what will we talk about?
The all time BEST Part of the reception I'd have to say is The Candy Bar. It was setup right next the real bar. It was heaven! There were the Chinese take out boxes there that people were to use. They had: Gum Balls, Mike'N'Ikes, Rock Candy, Pixie Stix, Sugar Coated Gummy Worms, Candied Fruit Slices, Vanilla Carmel's, Tootsie Pops, Chocolate, Dark Chocolate and M&M's with sayings on them along with the bride & grooms names. I would go up for a Margarita come back with another box of candy. I ended up going to the "Candy Bar" 3 times...I didn't want to look like too big of a pig so I also sent Eric up to get me another one..what?? We have three kids?? I'm certain that this would probably be what they'll eat for breakfast tomorrow morning as I slept these margaritas off.....just kidding. Saturday is Eric's day to get up with the kids..we have a system.
A few things that made us realize that we aren't the youngin's at the wedding:
- I was wearing black pants & black sweater - for a slimming effect. As Jamie's husband pointed out to us, "You guys look like a couple of Librarians."
- All the youngin's were out dancing their skinny booties on the dance floor. First of all I didn't recognize some of the songs. (Music isn't often played on Talk Radio). Secondly, the fact that I found myself saying "Geeze, get a room. That is such an innapropriate way to dance" I could hardly believe those words came out of my mouth because 6 years ago - that was me out on the dance floor.
- They were wearing young, cute, hip outfits. Our only comment was, "I bet they haven't had any kids - they better enjoy those Junior sized dresses while they can."
- The youngin's were all pounding the liquor/beer like no other. We sat back and reminsced..Ahh...those were the days. We discussed our limits as well as the consequences that older age has with drinking. Like the fact that hangovers now last for a whole weekend - not just a morning.
- Pat and I were comparing notes on what foods gave us the worse heartburn..I think I won. I have found in my older age that Bud Light Lime and Chocolate now give me heartburn. That's just not right!!
- As we sat back and ate our dinner, us ladies all compared the mashed potatoes. "Oh, I think they used to much Garlic" or our heated discussion of whether or not the vegetables were canned or frozen. I know we really should settle down.
- The biggest disappointment that made us realize we were old....BED TIME....we were all yawning by 10:00pm. I think most of us left by 10:30pm. You know, we have to get up early for our kid's soccer games.
I don't know, are we old or just responsible..?
