It's just my luck...

I thought that things were beginning to calm down in my world. Key word being THOUGHT. There I go thinkin' again. Man, haven't I learned?

My Wednesday night ended early Thursday morning around 1:45- 2am. I wish there was a really cool excuse, but I was doing my usual procrastination of some homework and a presentation that was due for the next day. Yes, again I realize this my own fault. I can only say that quiet time seems to be in the wee hours of the morning.

Knowing that I my alarm was set to go off in less than 3 hours, I seriously contemplated starting a pot of coffee and saying screw it. I managed to convince myself to go to bed, but not before praying that when I woke up the 3 hours I slept would have felt like I slept for 10.

Lets just say someone had other plans for me, and thought that I should get more sleep. I woke up thinking 'Man I feel great. The sun is shinining...and...uh-oh, the sun? CRAP!! THE SUN?!? I'm late!!" And then my day began...

Don't worry my day did get better. It's always nice to end your day a little early, right? I had a doctors appointment. I figured I'd be in / out and then I'd get to school early to make final touches to my presentation. I pulled into a parking spot at the doctors office. When the radio shut off I heard a weird noise. I had no clue where it was coming from. It sounded like air was being let out of a tire. I did a quick walk around the car and discovered no problems. I looked over and saw the sprinklers running. I figured that was what I had heard and continued on with my day.

After the appointment, I got back in the car and saw that the check engine light was on. Okay, so I'm not the most attentive person when it comes to cars, but I'm 99.9% sure that light wasn't on when I had parked. Eric is constantly giving me friendly reminders and also explaining to me that "I need to be one with the car, and notice when things change." Well I called 'Obie One' when I noticed the check engine light had come on. His response, "What can I do about it? I'm at work." I told him that I wanted it noted that I was telling him that there was a 'change' in the car. I was so proud of myself, and we hung up.

A few seconds later, I noticed that the air conditioner was beginning to blow hot air on me, which was not cool. Literally, I wanted to look nice for my presentation. The gage thingy didn't look right...hmmm...so I picked up phone and again I called Obi One to notify him of the new changes that I was discovering.

ME (in my sarcastic tone): "Hey Obie One, I also want it noted that I am being one with the care and I'm also noticing that the air conditioning is blowing hot air and that gage thingy with the 'C' and the 'H'...it's moving closer to the 'H'. Check me out being all attentive and stuff. Ha!!

ERIC: "WHAT!?! YOU'RE GOING TO BLOW UP MY CAR!!! PULL OVER NOW!!"

ME: "What...? Seriously??" (I mean, he can be SO dramatic sometimes)

Well it turns out that he was right, sort of. I pulled over off of the highway just as the car went kaput... Dang it! I ended up calling my mom to come rescue me and to take me to class. She showed up about 20-25 minutes later. I was stinky, sweaty and I'm pretty sure my hair looked something along the lines of Medusa. Maybe that's why nobody stopped to help "the scary crazy lady" that was crying on the side of the highway? So much for looking pretty and not to mention getting anywhere early. There's always next time...

Stupid cars...I want a horse.

  1. A horse! Ingenious idea...I'll go with that. But then riding a horse in rain and/or humidity. Can somehow add air conditioning and a roof to a horse? :) Dude, your day sounded crappy, so sorry. But hey, maybe it can only go up from there. Wishful thinking. :)
