Christmas

Christmas Eve started out great. I got the boys all cleaned up and into their "Pretty Clothes." I did get a few tantrums, but in the end - I won. All three of the boys would have matched, but Patrick had a growth spurt and didn't fit into his. Not to mention, he didn't fit into ANY of his clothes. Thank goodness for hand-me-downs that I had in the basement. He jumped from a size 6/7 to a 10!!

We went to Eric sister's house for the normal Christmas Eve celebration. We ate, drank and opened some gifts. Then it was off to church. I was even able to drag my husband along. He went to church the week before (which was a disaster) to watch the Christmas program. Eric going to church with us twice in one month - that is going in the record books. Emelie was there with the girls, her boyfriend Mike, and his three kids. All the kids were doing great together.

Then we began to sing the song, "Hark the Herold". This song will never be the same for me. I was holding Wyatt while I was singing. Wyatt looked up at me and said "Mommy, my throat doesn't feel good....then BLLLAAAAHHH!!" That Blah was him throwing up on me....in church.....and yes we were in the front row.. He continued throwing up all the way to the bathroom.

Seconds later, my mom, Emelie, Eric and a fellow member of Hope came in to check on us. We both were covered in vomit. I asked everyone how the pew looked. The bright side of the story is that I caught all of the vomit in my sweater and in my bra. My husbands ran to the van and got Wyatt his PJ's and he brought me his new Oklahoma Sooners Hoodie that he had just received from his mom less than an hour before church. Should I mention that it was white? We got cleaned up and did go back in to church. I will admit that I HAD to ditch the bra, it was rank. It was really weird sitting in church free-ballin'.

That was the excitement that we had on our Christmas celebration. Wyatt made a full recovery just in time for opening gifts the next morning.

I would have to say the best thing that I was able to get this year was stockings for my family. You may have noticed them in my pictures. Growing up, my great "Auntie Tec" had made a stocking for each one of us kids in the family. Now that I'm grown up and have a family of my own I've been searching the last 7 years for a stocking style that could come close. I never found one that could even compete. What I did discover was that my friend, Lynde, from church knew how to knit. I gave her a stocking and she was able to re-create stockings for each person in my family. Lynde, thank you soo much!!

FYI - I did manage to make Hope a gift and give it to her on Christmas Eve. I made her a "Hope Chest"...get it? I know, I'm corny. Hope-ee, if you do end up reading this...don't feel bad...I completely forget to get Eric ANYTHING, not even socks and underwear....I know, I'm bad. I have a feeling I won't be able to live this Christmas down.
