When I was around six years old I recall seeing a TV commercial .."Only $199! Come on Down and get yourself a fully loaded 1986 Mercury Sable..blah..blah..blah...." The following day I also remember giving my mom $2.00 and telling her to go buy herself a new car...because she deserved it.
Around that same time I also thought that if you drove an older car you would only be able to pickup that cars' era of music.... Maybe it was because my parents drove older cars and listened to the oldies station 24/7 or I was REALLY naive, but it confused me as child.
I'm now having my own similar "misconceptions" coming from Patrick.
Just recently we received a birthday party invitation. The mom wrote on the inside of the invitation to make sure you come dressed to play. When I read this out loud Patrick completely flipped out and he became very adamant that he wasn't going to go. I didn't understand because I thought he was friends with this boy. Patrick tells me that "He's not going to his party if he has to wear a dress!!" My mom and I burst out loud laughing.....and instead of explaining it to him, we told him that he could borrow one of his cousins' dresses. I know, I know, but we couldn't help it.
Last weekend at Karate, Mr. Hoskins says to the class "All right guys since next week is a holiday we'll have a make-up class. Your parents will be contacted with details." After class Patrick came up and whispered into my ear "Mom I'm not going to that make-up class!" Confused as usual...I asked why and he tells me "Because make-up is for girls and I'm NOT going!!" I did manage to hold back my laughter and explain what the instructor meant.
